Notes are mainly revamped versions of my own original Higher Notes, designed initially to mesh with a Revised Higher course produced by mainly James Gillespies (Edinburgh). This in turn was based on 'Challenge Chemistry' as produced by R.I.S.E.

Schools, such as ourselves, who purchased 'Challenge Chemistry' probably have the right to use amended versions of their worksheets. However, I cannot presume to have any right to share or distribute these, so will only be posting my own stuff.

Last year the Organic Unit was very much written 'on the hoof'. Taking the opportunity, this year, to slightly reorder things - in particular, I wanted Antioxidants earlier to help prepare for Researching Chemistry tasks.

In Topic 5 I'm indulging my need to teach Organic in a systematic way (using naming as an excuse to revise previous knowledge and introduce some of the new families) moving on to Oxidation reactions and Antioxidants.

Hope to finish this off soon by writing a booklet with Answers to all the questions in the Study Guide.

Just finished Topic 2 on schedule (but had to miss out 2.4 and treat 2.5 as N5 revision to be done at home). About to finish off the Key Area questions (Unit-by-Unit questions but formatted to be used as and when ready as per the Portfolio approach) so decided to try and produce a spreadsheet similar to the N5 one I used last year.

Made harder than N5 by the fact that different numbers of opportunities are used for many Key Areas in the Combined questions compared to the Unit-by-Unit questions. Still set up to use whichever Key Area set has the higher mark but may need manual correction if that results in total opportunities exceeding the original number specified.

Problem Solving, however, is much simpler due to the fact that a single correct answer in any of the attempts in any of the 3 Units will result in a pass, since there is usually only ever one opportunity and never more than two.

Outcome 1 seems same as at N5 and I've left in the Sheet I'll be using to Record Topic Tests/Prelim etc which you can amend to suit your own Tests if you wish.
